After having officially opened its doors a year ago in Larne, Specsavers has continued to go from strength-to-strength.

The opticians store initially created four full-time jobs within the local area when it first opened, but now there are six full-time members of staff, including a hearing aid audiologist and a new glazing laboratory, which allows for a faster service and stringent quality control over customer orders.

The store is also currently recruiting for a part-time member of staff to cover weekends.

Great first year

The business is owned and operated by directors Deirdre Woodside and Darren Caulfield.

Deirdre, a qualified dispensing optician with 26 years of experience in the East Antrim area, said: ‘It is hard to believe where the last year has gone as time has flown by so quickly.

Darren and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the local community for their support over the last 12 months.

Last year saw us raise funds for Roddensvale Primary School through a fashion event, we had a finalist from the Larne area in the Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition and plenty of other activities that went on throughout the year too. We are hoping to make 2014 even bigger and better.’
