Lanark helps local children be seen
The Lanark opticians has donated 70 high visibility vests to pupils at New Lanark Primary School.
Staying safe and visible
The donation was part of Specsavers’ pledge to help youngsters stay safe when out on darker afternoons and evenings. The school’s pupils wore the vests on a community walk with their parents in New Lanark’s woods on Friday 17 February.
Karen Bruce, head teacher at New Lanark Primary School, said: ‘The high visibility vest donation from Specsavers will be very beneficial in helping our staff ensure pupils are visible during class trips like our community walk.
‘Our fantastic Lanimer Court, including this year’s Lanimer Queen, Niamh Jopp, met with staff from Specsavers to collect the donation on behalf of the school.’
Meeting the Lanimer Court
Store director, Rubena Kerr said: ‘Helping local children be safe and be seen is an important focus for our store.
‘Our staff were delighted to meet the Lanimer Court and we hope the vests help prove useful not only for the community walk, but for future activities too.’
The Lanimer Court will form part of the Lanimer Day on Thursday 8 June.
