Specsavers store director, Martin O’Neill led the way for his team of runners at the recent Roon the Toon 10k race in Kilmarnock.
The King Street opticians was a gold sponsor of the 2018 event and four colleagues also took part in aid of Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).
The runners included store director Martin O’Neill, manager Philip Sui, Brian Chapman and Craig McCluskey who collectively fundraised for RNIB.
Fantastic atmosphere and community spirit
Martin O’Neill, store director at Specsavers Kilmarnock, said: ‘The atmosphere was fantastic and we were lucky with the weather as the sun was shining on race day. ‘It really showed Kilmarnock and our community in a great light – the route was lined with crowds of supporters, choirs and musicians. The store team working on Sunday also came out to cheer us on as we ran along King Street.
‘We are very proud sponsors of this year’s event and are committed to supporting it again next year. It was also great to raise additional funds for RNIB – a very worthy cause.’
Kilmarnock’s ‘Roon the Toon’ 10k took place on Sunday 10 June 2018. It was the biggest event to date with 1,400 entrants, and organisers hope it will be bigger and better each year.
