Specsavers in Kenilworth has been collecting unwanted specs to help raise funds for international charity Vision Aid Overseas (VAO).

Specsavers at 17 The Square has been collecting the old glasses on behalf of the local Lion’s Club who will send on the specs to VAO – the charity which delivers eyecare to some of the world’s most vulnerable people.

‘We’ve been collecting old specs for a number of years now,’ said Ambreena Bhatti, Specsavers Kenilworth store director. ‘The charity makes such a difference to people who don’t have access to the same standards of eyecare as we do, so we want to say a big thank you to all those who donated.  And, if anyone would still like to contribute any disused specs, donations are welcome and much appreciated.’

VAO raises money by recycling the glasses in an environmentally friendly way and uses the money it makes from selling the reusable materials to fund its overseas projects.
