Specsavers in Evesham is rallying round to offer emergency eye care to those who need it most during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The store has suspended all routine testing for the foreseeable future to focus on essential and urgent care only, particularly for key workers. Operating a skeleton team, the store has managed to help numerous key workers over the past week, whose eyesight is essential in order to maintain the vital work they are doing.
When one local key worker damaged her glasses, she feared it could impact her ability to continue helping with the efforts to combat COVID-19. Finding Specsavers Evesham ‘open for care’, the team got to work on getting her specs sorted in under an hour.
‘I am so grateful the team were able to help me, to ensure that I could continue with my job,’ commented the customer. ‘The team were diligent – using hand sanitiser and antibacterial wipes – while also safeguarding social distancing. Hats off to the excellent staff providing outstanding service in difficult circumstances.’
A word from the store director
‘We’re incredibly proud to be able to support our NHS by safely providing essential eye care in our store, as well as being here for key workers and the more vulnerable members of our community,’ commented Specsavers Evesham store director Amy Liau.
‘My team have been fantastic and I want to thank them for their ongoing support and dedication as we get through this together.’
Open For Care
Specsavers' teams are classed as key workers to provide urgent and essential eye care to those who need it. This includes supporting other key workers who couldn’t function without their help and people who would come to harm without their health expertise, especially where the usual hospital services and NHS facilities are being prioritised for the fight against COVID-19.
Customers can phone the store for advice and to be assessed on the level of care that they might need, the only exception being key workers who are able to walk in and seek immediate advice. Glasses and contact lenses can also be purchased online for customers with a current prescription.
