Specsavers Irvine has made a generous donation to North Ayrshire Foodbank.

Staff at the store in the Rivergate Shopping Centre collected a trolley full of items for the organisation, which is part of the Trussell Trust.

Caring staff donated a trolley and box full of essentials, including tins, sauces, cereal and tea bags.

Monthly Bake Off

The supplies were bought using money that the store raised in its instore monthly Bake Off competitions in 2015. Staff also asked each other to donate items instead of sending Christmas cards to boost the collection.

Jim Quinn, store director at Specsavers Irvine, said: ‘North Ayrshire Foodbank is a vital resource for people across Ayrshire and is especially important at this time of year.

‘Christmas can be a very difficult time for people and organisations like foodbanks provide much needed help to individuals and families.

‘Supporting the local community is very important to us and we’re delighted that we could help a good cause in this way.’
