St Winning’s Primary students show off their knowledge with optometrist Claire McGowan

Pupils at St Winning’s Primary in Kilwinning now know more about vision and eyecare, thanks to Specsavers in Irvine.

Claire McGowan, who works as an optometrist in the store, visited the school to talk to youngsters in P3/4 as part of their World of Work Week. Claire spoke to pupils about what her job involves and her day to day life working for Specsavers.  Pupils had the opportunity throughout her visit to ask any questions to gain as much insight into the job of an optomitrist as possible.

Jim Quinn, store director at Specsavers in Irvine, says: ‘Claire really enjoyed the visit and the young people learned a lot.

‘It’s important for us to link up with local schools to make youngsters aware of what is involved in going to the opticians.’
