Specsavers is backing the Andersonstown News organised ‘Inspirational Youth of the West Awards’ for a second year. The Awards champion the achievements of young people who are 18 and under and local people put forward nominations for top young people who inspire others.

The 28 diverse categories span sporting accolades, voluntary work, academic and cultural achievements and the gala awards evening takes place on Friday 3rd November at De La Salle Sports Complex. BBC weatherman Barra Best is once again awards host.

Inspired by young people

Opticians and audiologists Specsavers have been serving families in the local community for the past six years and store director and dispensing optician Jayne Martin said the team was delighted to once again back such an important awards programme.

‘Lots of teenagers and their families come into our store and we’re hugely impressed by what they have accomplished whether it’s in sport, voluntary work, in school, at training courses or in the workplace.

'We’re very much looking forward to the gala awards event and seeing local young ambassadors rewarded for their hard work, inspirational ideas and sporting achievements.'
