Regular eye tests can detect a range of health conditions before they become more serious issues, which is why staff from Specsavers in Wellington are encouraging locals to get their eyes tested at least once every two years, even those who don’t wear specs.
A word from the store director
‘It’s extremely important to get your eyes tested, even if you don’t wear glasses or have never experienced problems with your vision,’ says Satinder Sidhu, store director at Specsavers Wellington. ‘Eye tests check more than your vision, they can also pick up minor eye conditions (MECs) such as dry eye or infections, and we’re doing our best to spread this message in the local community.’
Few people know that a simple eye test can reveal a number of serious health conditions including dementia, diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, arthritis or tumours.
