Hucknall residents make Specsavers’ food appeal a success

27 February, 2015

Specsavers opticians in Hucknall are delighted with the community’s response to an appeal for a local food distribution project.

Members of the team have been collecting donations for the Engage food project since the beginning of January. The store has received a number of donations from tinned foods and dried pasta to soups and pies. One kind-hearted person even donated some jars of homemade chutney.

Janet Archer, store director said: ‘Our staff and local people have been so generous. We are incredibly grateful for their support. We know the Engage project is a lifeline to many local people so we’re delighted to be able to support the great work that they do.’

The steo has now stopped taking food donations, but anyone wanting to help can take non-perishable food items to Under One Roof on Vine Terrace, Hucknall.

Hucknall’s Engage Foodbank is a collaborative project by Churches Together Hucknall, Linby and Papplewick (CTHLP) which has been serving the communities for more than 15 years.
