Mona Thacker, an optician from Specsavers in Hoddesdon undertook her greatest fundraising trial to date – the London 3 Peaks Challenge in aid of Stand Up To Cancer.
Mona is already an intrepid fundraiser, and can now add the latest endurance busting challenge to her fundraising CV, after descending more than 14,000 feet to raise funds for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices in 2013.
On Sunday 5 October, Mona ran, climbed and abseiled as part of the adrenaline filled series of events across three of London’s tallest buildings including The Gherkin and the Salesforce Tower, formerly known as Heron Tower.
Mona said: ‘The level of support and generosity that I’ve received from my team and customers has been overwhelming. I was determined to undertake this challenge and put all my might in raising funds for such a worthwhile cause.
‘There were times when I thought I couldn’t go any further but all I had to do was think of the great work that the charity undertakes – there is nothing quite like passing the finishing line and the sense of achievement in being involved.
‘I would like to thank everyone who has donated to date and welcome further donations to the charity.’
