The team at a local opticians has raised £270 for Macmillan Cancer Support after popping on their pinnies and baking up a storm for an in-store coffee morning.
Staff at Hillsborough Specsavers spent days mixing, whisking and baking to contribute baked goods to The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning 2016, in support of the cancer charity.
Customers and passers-by enjoyed hot drinks and delicious treats in exchange for much-needed donations to Macmillan.
A community effort
Gary Bamford, store director at Hillsborough Specsavers was delighted to be involved and grateful for the support of the local community: ‘There are now 2.5 million people in the UK living with cancer and this is only increasing. Macmillan Cancer Support carries out brilliant work for our local community and it’s a charity that we are certainly proud to support.
‘One third of us will face cancer in our lives, and Macmillan makes sure no one faces cancer alone. We were delighted to take part in this year’s coffee morning and were blown away by the support from our customers and the Hillsborough community. I can’t think of a more worthy cause.’
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning 2016 saw people from all over the country come together to enjoy delicious baked goods and hot drinks, to raise money and show their support.
