A Smithy Bridge scouts group will be visible this summer thanks to the free donation of high visibility jackets from the Rochdale store.
A supporter of road safety
The store has donated the vests to Smithy Bridge Beavers after launching a campaign to increase the safety of local children by making it easier for motorists to spot them when their activities take them out into the community.
Glad to help
Sarah Culshaw, store director at Specsavers Rochdale, says: ‘We wanted to help increase the safety of children at Smithy Bridge Beavers and spread the message around the importance of being clearly visible on the roads and elsewhere.’
‘As part of this initiative, we are also hoping to raise awareness of free glasses and eye tests that are available to under 16-year-olds. It is important to make sure that children have regular eye tests as an undetected problem could lead to something more severe in the long term.’
Thankful for the donation
Laura Cunningham, Group Scout Leader, at the 12A Rochdale Smithy Bridge Beavers, adds: ‘We often take children on trips throughout the Rochdale area, so it’s imperative we keep our children safe at all times. The high visibility vests are fantastic, and we are extremely grateful to Specsavers for making such a generous donation.’
