Specsavers North Bridge helped to keep local children safer during National Walk to School Week (18 – 25 May) by donating high visibility vests to Canongate Youth Group on South Bridge.

The donation has enabled the youth group to take the young people on regular trips, ensuring they are easy to spot by nearby traffic.

Walk to School Week
Store director at Specsavers in North Bridge, Jennifer Ballantyne, said: ‘We are continually looking for ways to give back to the local community and Walk to School Week is the perfect opportunity for us to help parents keep their children safe on the journey to and from school.

The national awareness week highlights the many health benefits of walking to school but it is also important to bear safety in mind and ensure that children can be seen by motorists easily.’

Supporting the local community
Clare Jamieson, Youth Development Worker at Canongate Youth Group, said: ‘We’d like to thank Specsavers in North Bridge for kindly donating the high visibility vests. They are a fantastic idea and we’ll get loads of use out of them throughout the year – they’ll really help us to keep all our young people safer.’
