The team at Oakwood Specsavers is proud to offer the latest in revolutionary diagnostic equipment which could help to save the sight of local residents. This technology will be offered to customers as part of a sight test for no extra cost.
The advanced eye scanning system can help to detect a number of eye conditions, including glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathy.
The 3D Optical Coherence Tomography system (OCT) is similar to an ultrasound, but uses light instead of sound waves to build up a picture of every facet of the eye from the reflections. The 3D scan allows the optometrist to examine the different layers that make up the optic nerve and retina, and can be cross referenced with a digital photograph of the surface of the eye to pinpoint areas of concern.
Optometrist director Pratish Bhundia said: ‘The new technology represents the very best standard of eyecare that we can provide to our customers. Specsavers prides itself on its professionalism and this is demonstrated by our investment in the very best technology to support our team in carrying out thorough sight tests.’
