The Hexam opticians raised almost £500 last year for RNIB the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).

Going the extra mile for charity
Supervisor and trainee dispensing optician, Emily Cruise, completed the Great North Run to generate funds for the charity.

Customers and staff at the store generously contributed to the appeal.

She said: 'I was proud to take part in the Great North Run on behalf of such a vital charity that helps people with sight loss all over the UK.

'I was in training for months therefore when I finally crossed the finishing line it felt like an amazing achievement.'

Pauline Wellstead, store director at Specsavers in Hexham, said: 'We were delighted to support RNIB last year and hope to build on this throughout 2020 with further fundraising for vital charities.'

RNIB is one of the UK’s leading sight loss charities and the largest community of blind and partially sighted people.
