Make a free hearing test part of your regular health check-up
A Scunthorpe hearing centre is reaching out to over 55s in its campaign to highlight the importance of regular hearing tests.
Specsavers Hearing Centre in Scunthorpe is encouraging residents to take the first step towards including hearing screenings in their regular healthcare routines by popping into store for a free test.
Oliver Sykes, hearcare audiologist, says: ‘Age-related hearing loss is the most common type of hearing loss in the UK, and the longer it’s left unchecked, the more impact it can have on someone’s everyday life.
'We’re encouraging over 55s to look after their ears in the same way as they look after their eyes, and come for regular checks.’
Oliver is also seeking to normalise hearing loss, which affects one in six people in the UK, and remove the stigma associated with the condition.
He adds: ‘Hearing loss is a normal part of the body’s ageing process, which many of us will have to address at some point. By raising awareness of the importance of hearing screening, we hope people realise they don’t need to suffer in silence.
'Hearing checks at Specsavers are completely free, our centres are equipped with the latest and most cutting-edge technology and we offer a range of market leading products including known brands such as Widex and Siemens.’
Specsavers Hearing Centre in Scunthorpe offers appointments on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Oliver also offers Hearcare appointments at neighbouring Specsavers stores in Gainsborough, Grimsby, Louth and a service in Cleethorpes is coming soon due to customer demand.
