Local audiologists and opticians at Specsavers in Bedford have donated £200 to a local choir and will be giving free hearing tests and eye-checks to members of a local choir to make sure they had perfect pitch.
Supporting the local community
The choir for the Bedford chapter of the University of the 3rd Age visited a presentation evening hosted by Specsavers, to support local medical professionals and carers. The team gave advice and information on how and when to refer patients to their opticians or audiologists, and what Specsavers stores can do for the local community.
Audiology director of Specsavers in Bedford, Aekta Patel said: ‘Many people don’t always realise that a lot of eye health and hearing health issues can be dealt with by a visit to your local audiologist or opticians, rather than a GP or hospital. We have state-of-the-art technology which allows us to detect issues before they cause a problem, as long as they are caught soon.
Recommended checkup every two years
‘That’s why we always suggest that everyone comes for an eye test at least every two years and everyone over 50 comes for a hearing check-up every two years, which are available for free at Specsavers.’
Specsavers will be giving discount cards for eye tests and hearing test to over 8,000 Bedfordshire carers, to support the fantastic work they do for the local community.
