Hearcare specialists from Specsavers Enniskillen store will be offering expert advice on hearing and ear health to all people attending The Young at Heart event, held on 19 October in The Enniskillen Hotel, Forthill Street.
The exhibition runs from 10am until 4pm and Specsavers will be part of a team of exhibitors offering advice and information on a range of services for older people who are most definitely ‘young at heart’ including travel, leisure, legal, finance and health.
Looking after your ear health
According to Action on Hearing Loss, by 2035, 20% of the population will have some form of hearing loss and despite its prevalence hearing loss is often overlooked by people when it comes to their health routine. The average person waits between 10 and 15 years to have their hearing tested despite the detrimental effects it can have emotionally, physically and mentally.
Seek early diagnosis
Enniskillen store director Ronan Rice said, ‘Regular hearing checks should be a part of everyone’s healthcare routine and we recommend that people over 55 get a hearing test every two years.
‘We’re delighted to be part of the Young at Heart exhibition and look forward to meeting local people from the Fermanagh region and helping them with any hearcare queries or problems they or any of their family members have experienced.’
Young at Heart organises events, exhibitions and information on quality living for older people throughout Northern Ireland and celebrates the very best of retirement living locally.
