A member of staff from Specsavers in Haverfordwest has been awarded a foundation degree, qualifying as a dispensing optician.
Successful career development
Kate Hooper, aged 29, has been working at Specsavers in Haverfordwest since 2007 as an optical assistant and recently graduated from Anglia Ruskin University with a degree in ophthalmic dispensing.
Mrs Hooper has been studying for the degree for three years, after successfully completing her optical assistant 1, 2 and 3 courses in clinical and ophthalmic dispensing as part of a career development programme at Specsavers Haverfordwest.
Mrs Hooper is now one of three specialist dispensers at the Specsavers store.
‘Specsavers support invaluable’
Mrs Hooper said: ‘I am very proud to have gained my degree in clinical and ophthalmic dispensing as well as my optical assistant certificates. Specsavers support has been invaluable, and I’m grateful to have been given the opportunity to add to my professional skills throughout my career at the Haverfordwest store. I hope to be a great asset to the team in my new role.’
Paul Skoczek, dispensing director at Specsavers Haverfordwest, said: ‘It is a great achievement to pass professional exams and I’m very pleased at how far Kate has progressed during her time with Specsavers.
‘Kate is a great example of how our career development programme can help to increase our staffs’ skill set as well as the services we can offer our customers, and strengthen the team as a whole in Haverfordwest.’
