New designer specs Havant gone to waste
A Havant woman has won a pair of designer glasses from a local opticians after the store hosted a month of fundraising activities and competitions for Alzheimer’s Research UK.
Guess the number of contacts
Lorraine Issard was the winner of a Guess The Number Of Contact Lenses competition at Specsavers in Havant and chose a pair of glasses from the Karen Millen range as a prize.
This competition was part of a month-long fundraiser throughout August at Specsavers in Havant, located at 36-38 West Street. The store hosted a cake sale, a kids colouring contest and a raffle in aid of the charity.
Bill Vance, Specsavers Havant store director, says: ‘We have raised a three-figure sum for Alzheimer’s Research UK. Dementia affects 820,000 people in the UK. It has a huge personal cost and it also costs the UK economy £23 billion a year, more than cancer and heart disease combined.
Raising as much money as possible
‘We wanted to raise as much money for the charity as possible and hosted a number of activities with great prizes to giveaway, including designer prescription glasses for our guess the number of lenses contest. A special thanks goes to the La Bonne Baguette café, Crown Bingo, Staunton Country Park, and Fontwell race course for donating raffle prizes.’
Alzheimer's Research UK is the United Kingdom's leading dementia research charity, founded in 1992 as the Alzheimer’s Research Trust. It is dedicated to funding scientific studies to find ways to treat, cure or prevent Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, Lewy Body disease and fronto-temporal dementia.
