Hartlepool Specsavers joins Heartsafe UK campaign

13 July, 2015

Specsavers in Hartlepool has joined the Heartsafe UK campaign in a bid to equip more people in the area with skills to save a life in an emergency.

Heartsafe Zone
The store, located in Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, has signed up to become a ‘Heartsafe Zone’ and will receive a lifesaver information pack including an A1 poster with easy-to-follow instructions on how to save a life. Currently, only one in 10 people in the UK know how to administer CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation).

Heartsafe UK has introduced these packs for local businesses to improve that statistic across Tyne Tees.

Ian Walker, store director at Specsavers in Hartlepool, says: ‘This initiative is all about making people aware of how to save a life and look out for others in our local community.

‘We’d all hope that if the worst happened to a loved one, someone would be around who knew how to save their life. The reality is, at the moment, the odds are against us, and most people don’t know how to administer CPR. That’s why we’ve joined this campaign to become a Heartsafe Zone.’
