A fundraising event in store has seen Specsavers Ludlow raise £43 for Guide Dogs.
Launched on Friday 21 June, the team was paid a visit by guide dog Bess and her handler Julie Litten while customers were invited to take part in a ‘guess the name of the toy dog’ competition, in return for a donation. Lynne Southall was the winner, correctly guessing Sammy as the name, and she was able to take the dog home with her. Posters were also on display to help raise awareness of the charity.
A word from the store director
‘Guide dogs can make such a difference to the blind and partially sighted,’ said store director, Nicola Aubrey. ‘We were delighted to have Julie and Bess attend as guests of honour, and we’re really grateful for all the support from our customers.’
There are around two million people living with sight loss in the UK. Guide Dogs’ ambition is for a future where every person with sight loss has the confidence and support to live their lives to the full. Guide dogs can provide blind people with confidence, friendship, and security.
