Guernsey opticians celebrate 30th anniversary

28 July, 2015

The Guernsey store is celebrating 30 years in business by running a competition to find people who look great in their glasses.

The competition is being run in conjunction with Guernsey Photo Booth and staff are looking for people who wear their specs with pride.

Store director Sarah Burchett says: ‘We thought this competition would be a fun way to involve our customers with our 30th anniversary celebrations. A lot of things have changed in the last 30 years including people’s attitudes to glasses. Many of our customers now treat them as a fashion accessory rather than simply something they have to wear to see properly.’

A photo booth will be set up in the store on several Saturdays in August (1, 15, 22 and 29 August) and islanders are invited to pop into the store and have their photos taken in Specsavers glasses, sunglasses or comedy specs.

The competition is open to men and women over the age of 16 and is split into four age categories – 16-29; 30-44; 45-59 and 60+. All entrants must have a Guernsey residential address. A winner from each category will be given a £150 voucher to spend in the store, as well as a trophy and a goody bag. The overall winner will also be able to use the photo booth for their next birthday party.

£1 will be donated to the Guernsey Blind Association for every entry received.

The closing date for entries is Wednesday 2 September.
