Specsavers staff in Gorseinon hosted a charity football match against local football team Pontarddulais juniors, raising £130 towards the store’s campaign to support Red Nose Day.
Funny for money
During the match, Specsavers staff from Gorseinon dressed in red and made their faces funny for money by donning Specsavers’ official Red Nose Day glasses.
The store has sponsored the local team for more than four years and Carl Thomas, laboratory technician at the store, is the team’s part-time coach.
Specsavers in Gorseinon has joined Specsavers stores nationwide to support Comic Relief to help poor and vulnerable people living tough lives both here in the UK and across Africa.
Football fundraising fun
Sally Anne Colquhoun, store director of Specsavers in Gorseinon, said: ‘The football match was a fantastic way of involving the Pontarddulais junior team in getting behind Red Nose Day.
‘Our official Red Nose Day glasses were certainly a great addition to the game, and despite being pipped to the post, losing 6-5 to Pontarddulais juniors, it was still a fantastic way to fundraise for such a brilliant cause.’
