An optician at Goole Specsavers raised £289 by taking the plunge and shaving off all his hair to raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support to support the charities Brave the Shave initiative.
Brave the Shave
Matthew Buck, a lab assistant at Goole Specsavers, chose to participate in Macmillan’s Brave the Shave campaign to show his support for the charity’s continued hard work to provide practical, medical and financial support and push for better local cancer care.
Staff at Specsavers on Boothferry Road showed their support by hosting a book sale in-store throughout August, with all sales going to the charity and also raffled hair related prizes for £1 per ticket, including bobbles and beard balm.
Robert Winlow, store director at Goole Specsavers, said: ‘We have been serving our local community for over 30 years so we’re well versed when it comes to being brave in our fundraising efforts.
‘Macmillan play a vital role in providing healthcare services in Goole, so we’re always willing to roll up our sleeves and get involved to help make sure our local community are supported.”
