A marathon charity golf tournament has raised £1,200 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

‘This is the second year that I’ve organised a charity golf tournament and I am delighted with the total raised from this year’s challenge.’ says Specsavers Glenrothes store director Gary Wood.

Gary rallied his colleagues from Specsavers stores across Scotland to take part. Each participant encouraged donations and local sponsorship pledges which all contributed to the final fundraising total

Tough challenge

The sponsored golf challenge, held at the world-renowned Gleneagles course, saw competitors complete four rounds of golf within 16 hours, walking a combined total of 92 miles to raise the money.

‘This total means we have raised £4,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support from both tournaments – a total which we are so pleased to have achieved.’

‘We would like to thank everyone who donated and supported each of the competitors – we are truly grateful to be able to send this cheque to such a worthy cause,’ says Gary who was joined by fellow directors David Quigley and Martin O’Neil and friend Craig Stephenson.
