The teams at Specsavers in Faversham and Canterbury have been encouraging local parents to add an eye test to their back to school checklists.
Importance of regular eye examinations
Mary Goodland, store director at Specsavers in Faversham and Canterbury, said: ‘We need to remind local parents of the importance of regular eye examinations, and at this time of year it’s essential for children. If undetected, sight problems can cause issues with a child’s learning, development and behaviour.’
Around 80% of everything a child learns is through their vision, so even a minor problem with a child’s sight can mean they suffer huge setbacks in their development at school. Children’s eyes continue developing until the age of eight and many common eye conditions are easily resolved if detected before that age.
Children under the age of 16 can receive a free NHS eye test.
