Eyecare experts in Cramlington are relaunching a successful specs recycling appeal in support of sight charity Vision Aid Overseas.

Opticians from Specsavers in Cramlington, together with Specsavers stores across the North East, collected and donated more than 44,000 pairs of old and unwanted glasses in 2015.

Now, the team in store are once again calling for donations of old and unwanted glasses for their special Vision Aid Overseas collection box.

A word from the store director

Darren Walker, store director at Specsavers in Cramlington, said: ‘Local residents have always given generously to our Vision Aid Overseas specs appeal.

‘By renewing our appeal for glasses, we hope it will remind the community that they can put their old specs to good use. Whether you’re having an early spring clean in the house or you’re updating your specs in store, just pop your unwanted pairs in the collection box.

‘It’s such a simple initiative but it can really make a positive change in people’s lives.’

More about the charity
