Specsavers stores from across Glasgow were proud sponsors for the annual Classrooms for Malawi fundraising ball that took place on 28th April.
The Specsavers stores involved in the sponsorship included Glasgow Forge, Glasgow Fort, Newlands, Newton Mearns, Byres Road, Trongate and Sauchiehall Street.
Classrooms for Malawi undertake comprehensive building and renovation programmes working with volunteers, schools, businesses, community groups, local authorities and other charities to facilitate work in Malawi.
The charity started up four years ago and since then has built/renovated a total of 136 classrooms in Malawi. As a result of their renovations, 10,880 children are now able to learn in a safe and secure environment.
A word from the store director
Sarah Freel, store director of Specsavers Sauchiehall Street said, ‘The Classrooms for Malawi charity has done an incredible job over the last four years and has helped such a significant amount of children in poverty in Malawi gain access to education through their renovation programmes.
‘The work the charity does is really invaluable to those in Malawi. We were delighted to help sponsor a part of their fundraising ball, along with other Specsavers stores across Glasgow, to ensure many more lives are touched by their fantastic work.’
