Audiology experts in Glasgow are now offering ear wax removal as part of an all-encompassing ear health check.
Specsavers Audiologists in Sauchiehall Street, Trongate and Glasgow Fort, are fully trained to professionally remove excess ear wax which may be causing discomfort or difficulty hearing.
A word from our store director
Ryan Forbes hearing director at Specsavers Audiologists for Glasgow said: ‘Amazingly our ears biologically self-clean and ear wax helps to maintain the health of our ears.
'But problems can arise when items, such as cotton buds or ear plugs, are inserted into the ear. This interferes with the ear’s natural cleaning process and pushes wax and debris further into the ear, which can cause build-up or a blockage of the ear canal.'
Watch for symptoms
Ryan added: ‘If you notice any of the symptoms of impacted wax, including sudden or partial hearing loss, tinnitus, a feeling of fullness in the ear or earache, then we advise you to visit one of our audiologists in store who can help resolve the issue.
'At Specsavers we also recommend that anyone over the age of 55 has a hearing test every year as part of a regular health care routine.’
The Specsavers Hearing Check App is free to download on the App and Play store on iOS or Android devices, and advises whether a full check in store is recommended.
