The Morpeth store has been a familiar sight in the town centre for eight years – and the store is becoming so popular with customers that the team has more than doubled since opening in 2008.
The staff of 10 includes two resident optometrists, and two members of the original team still work at the Bridge Street opticians.
During the last eight years many new recruits have begun their careers in Morpeth. Working alongside the team at present is Heather Bruce, a local apprentice who is learning from her colleagues’ combined 28 years of optical experience.
Within the Morpeth store there are over 1,000 frames on display so there is a great selection of glasses to choose from once you’ve had your eye test in one of the two testing rooms as well as a range of contact lens options.
With very flexible opening hours the store has the capacity for nearly 200 eye tests each week which is helpful in finding convenient appointment times for customers.
A word from the store director
Ross Jennings, store director, said: ‘Our store here is so easy to find – we’re situated right in the centre of Bridge Street in the heart of Morpeth, a beautiful market town in Northumberland.
‘We’re very busy and take a real pride in getting involved in activities in the town - we support the rugby team and local Alzheimer’s charities, both of which make a big contribution to people’s lives in the town and area.
Being an optician is all about making a difference to people’s lives; be that giving the gift of improved vision with the correct pair of glasses or providing guidance and support to first-time contact lens wearers. ‘Being director at Morpeth is hugely rewarding and I’m very proud of my team’
