Staff from Specsavers opticians in Gainsborough recently dusted off their walking boots and successfully tackled the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, raising £1,500 for the British Heart Foundation along the way.
Three Peak Challenge
Staff at Specsavers in Gainsborough took part in the Yorkshire Three Peak Challenge in September, during which they scaled the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in 12 hours.
The team of ten walked a total of 24 miles, with an ascent of 5,200ft. ‘Though it was a tough challenge, it really was an amazing experience,’ said store director Jacqui Nicol, who was part of the team. ‘It challenged our mental and physical strength. Completing the challenge was testament to the hours of training that the team put in. We would love to thank our customers and colleagues who sponsored us. The British Heart Foundation is a great cause to support.’
The money raised will go towards funding vital research, in a bid to win the fight against cardiovascular disease.
