Frome celebrates newly qualified optometrist
Celebrations are underway at Specsavers Frome as a member of staff has passed her exams to qualify as an optometrist.
Chloe Plaxton joined the store as an optical assistant in 2011, working at weekends and during holidays alongside her A-Level studies.
The perfect fit
‘Working at Specsavers was the perfect fit,’ said Chloe. ‘I’ve always been interested in healthcare – my aim has always been to work with the public and help people – but I didn’t want to work in a hospital, so Specsavers was ideal.’
Sponsored by Specsavers, Chloe went on to complete a three-year degree in Optometry at Aston University in Birmingham in July 2015, gaining a first. She returned to the store as a pre-reg optometrist, working full-time with the team to gain experience through clinical consultations, hospital visits and other professional training to work towards her final qualification.
‘I’m so grateful to the team at Frome for their support throughout my time at Specsavers, from working on Saturdays to starting my career as a qualified optometrist. I’m looking forward to a break from studying, but so happy that my hard work has paid off!’ Chloe added.
Store director Alistair Bisatt commented: ‘We’re all absolutely delighted for Chloe. She is a real asset and a great example to young people in the area looking to drive their own careers. We’ve got a great team here in Frome, and take every opportunity to celebrate their achievements. Congratulations again to Chloe.’
