Formby school children welcome Specsavers staff
Staff from Specsavers in Formby have pledged to help keep local school children safe by donating high visibility vests to Our Lady of Compassion Primary School to raise awareness about Road Safety Week.
Children warmly welcomed Mark Roberts, store manager from Specsavers in the town, who presented them with 100 jackets to ensure they're safer when their learning takes them into the community, and while walking to and from school.
The vests were donated as part of an initiative set up by Specsavers to increase the safety of local children by making it easier for motorists to spot them.
Highly visible children
Store manager at the Specsavers store in Formby, Mark Roberts, commented: ‘As we approach winter, and the dark mornings and nights set in, it can be difficult for motorists to see pedestrians, especially when children are walking home from school.
‘As such, we decided that we wanted to help increase the safety of children in Formby and offered Our Lady of Compassion Primary School the high visibility vests.
‘As part of the Road Safety Week initiative, we are also raising awareness of the free glasses and eye tests that are available to under 16-year-olds. Regular eye tests are important for children to ensure any problems are detected.'
