Focusing on career development
A youngster from Dudley is on track for a rewarding career in optics thanks to an apprenticeship programme with Specsavers.
16-year-old Elysia Hodgetts – who received her GCSE results last week – has joined staff in Dudley as part of the Optical Apprenticeship Programme. Throughout the next 12 months, she’ll work in store and be supported by the team as she completes her apprenticeship to become an optical assistant.
Growth and development
The store has also welcomed two additional recruits to the team, including Emma Onions, dispensing assistant, and Anuj Savjani, pre-reg optometrist.
Gurdeep Dosanjh, store director, said: ‘We pride ourselves on delivering the very best service for each of our customers, and investing in the growth and development of our team is a fantastic way to do that. Emma and Anuj are both from Dudley which is really important to us – and our customers – as we continue to invest in the local community.
‘Our new apprentice, Elysia, left school in 2016 and this is a brilliant way for her to build a successful career in optics. She’s shown so much enthusiasm so far and with the full support of our team, I’m sure she’ll do really well on the programme. We can’t wait for our customers to come in and meet our new additions!’
