A breath-taking display from the Royal Air Force's Red Arrows Display Team took place during a special ‘Festival of Heroes Specsavers Spectacular’ recently in Arbroath.
Specsavers stores across Scotland helped to make the event possible with a £13k sponsorship which included a £4k donation from the Arbroath and Dundee stores.
The event, organised by Jamie Buchan, store director of Specsavers in Arbroath and Dundee, celebrated the armed forces and emergency services and brought the community together for a spectacular tribute to its heroes.
Jamie and his team of dedicated local volunteers created a truly memorable outdoor gala day-style event featuring displays from the British Army and an appearance from Masterchef contestant Jamie Scott.
A truly memorable event
Jamie said: ‘We are overwhelmed at the success of Arbroath’s Festival of Heroes. We’ve had such fantastic feedback from people who attended. We estimate between 12,000 and 14,000 people came along to enjoy the festival.
‘A big thanks goes to the sensational committee for helping to organise the event in just eight months as well as Specsavers stores throughout Scotland for their phenomenal support.
‘I’m immensely proud of the show of friendship and support from my fellow directors in contributing such a fantastic amount which helped to make the event possible and enabled us to secure the Red Arrows performance – some even made personal contributions above the collective sponsorship.’
