Specsavers in the Loreburne Shopping Centre in Dumfries has welcomed dispensing optician Alison Layley to the team.
Alison first worked with the store’s dispensing optician John Scott, dispensing optician and director Joan Scott, optometrist Mark Dickson and retail director Jill Dickson, 25 years ago in the Conlons store in Dumfries.
She joined the team as a glazing technician and was supported by the team through the dispensing optician course.
When John and the team left to set up the Specsavers store in 1995, Alison became Conlons branch manager. Now, almost 27 years later, she has decided to rejoin the team and start her Specsavers career.
Embracing the changes
Alison said: ‘It’s like coming home. We all worked really well together all those years ago so it’s been really easy to get settled in.
‘So much has changed in terms of technology and customer expectations in the time I have been an optician but I enjoy adapting to the changes.
‘I’m really enjoying working as part of the team.’
Store director Jill Dickson said: ‘We’re delighted to welcome Alison to the team. I’m sure she will be a great asset to the business.’
