Fairytale spectacle raises £1,000 for charity

09 September, 2014

Specsavers Market Harborough has raised a magical £1,013 for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research with a Disney-themed fundraising day.

The team raided their dressing up boxes and really went to town, with appearances from Prince Charming, Cinderella, her Ugly Sister, Elsa from Frozen, Sleeping Beauty, Cruella De Vil, Woody from Toy Story, Peter Pan, Captain Hook and many more!

The show-stopper from the day had to be the fairytale horse and carriage ride, pulled by two beautiful horses, where families could ride around the town in exchange for a donation.

Children could also have their photos taken with the Disney characters and have their faces painted. Peter Pan hosted a popular ‘story corner’ and there were many games to play, including ‘hook a poisoned apple’ and a ‘find Nemo’ treasure hunt.

Barry Henning, store director at Specsavers in Market Harborough, says: ‘Thank you so much to everyone who helped us raise such an incredible amount of money for a great charity. The Disney enthusiasts in our team really pulled out all the stops to make this a fantastic fundraising day. Special thanks should go to Amy Studd, the event organiser and, of course, to Chris, our dispenser, who went down a storm as an Ugly Sister!’

Children who got involved on the day received a Specsavers goody bag. There were also prizes for the winners of each game, as well as an impressive hamper full of Disney goodies for the raffle winner.
