Team members from Specsavers in Sutton Coldfield have helped youngsters recognise potential career opportunities by attending a local apprenticeship fair.

Career opportunities

Store manager, Andrew Pennicott, and optical consultant, Emily Coles – who recently graduated from Specsavers’ apprenticeship programme were on hand to help attendees discover a career in optics.

‘This event was a really good opportunity for students from local schools to ask questions and discover more about apprenticeships, so we’re really proud to have been part of it,’ said Andrew. ‘Apprenticeships can be a fantastic route into industries such as optics and provide young people with valuable experience.

‘Emily, who graduated from our apprenticeship scheme in March, was also able to share her experience with the students on the day which they found really useful.’

Specsavers apprenticeship programme

Specsavers offers a 12-month apprenticeship programme which includes the completion of the Level 2 Diploma in Optics, monthly assessor visits, observations, online learning and courses. Working in-store, apprentices become a key member of the team, getting involved in various tasks to help the store run as smoothly as possible.
