Specsavers in Exmouth are once again supporting the local food bank appeal over the festive period, in conjunction with the Salvation Army.
The initiative will see Specsavers in Exmouth acting as a food collection point for two weeks from 21 December for the town’s food bank: Salvation Army Headquarters, Shepherds Row, Exmouth.
Store staff will be donating vital food supplies and hope to encourage customers to do the same.
Ria Heskins, store director of Specsavers Exmouth, says: ‘We were shocked at how many people in the area rely on food donations to feed their family from week-to-week. Hunger is not just a problem in the developing world; as a community we have a responsibility to help those in desperate need living in and around Exmouth.
‘We’re collecting everything from tins of beans to pasta and rice, which we then deliver to the local community larder.’
The food bank network is run by the Salvation Army, which works in 126 countries.
