Elgin opticians aims for £10k fundraising target
Specsavers opticians and audiologists in Elgin are urging locals to support them as they fundraise for Hearing Dogs throughout the month of July.
Specsavers Elgin is inviting everyone in the community to join them for a family-fun beach day in aid of Hearing Dogs on Saturday 16 July. The charity trains and provides assistance dogs for people who have hearing difficulties. These highly skilled canine companions alert people to simple sounds such as an alarm clock, doorbell and fire alarm.
Specsavers store director Peter Taylor said: ‘We are very proud to support this charity all year round as deafness can be very isolating and the assistance dogs provided by Hearing Dogs can provide more independence and confidence with day-to-day tasks.
‘We hope that the community will really get behind Specsavers Elgin as we strive to reach our £10,000 fundraising target.
‘This ambitious total will pay for an assistance dog for a local resident which is an aim we are really keen to achieve. We have been avid supporters of Hearing Dogs over the years and, with the tremendous support from the local community, we have raised £5,000 already. It would be fantastic if Moray residents could help us edge closer to the £10,000 target.
‘We look forward to welcoming customers and visitors alike to our family beach day on Saturday 16 July.’
Family beach day
The High Street opticians will be a hive of activity as it hosts a raffle and an array of games such as hook-a-duck, with fantastic prizes up for grabs including Specsavers designer specs vouchers. If you have a sweet tooth, there will also be a selection of delicious home baking on sale.
The store team, some of whom will be sporting colourful Hawaiian shirts, will be offering glasses MOTs for a small donation to Hearing Dogs. Specsavers Elgin offer this frame tightening and lens cleaning service all year round ensuring everyone gets the most from their glasses.
All proceeds from the family fundraiser and donations for glasses MOTs throughout July will go towards Hearing Dogs.
