While Specsavers Eastleigh in Market Street is closed for all routine eye and hearing tests at the moment, they are still open to provide essential care and support local keyworkers.
Customers are being encouraged to call the store if they need urgent support with a visual problem, or if they have issues with their glasses, contact lenses or hearing aids.
Supporting the community
Last week, the team helped a nurse get new contact lenses urgently so that she could work her shift at the hospital after she could not recover hers from her home as her family were self-isolating.
They also made some varifocals for a consultant doctor whose glasses had broken, and adjusted glasses for a child who normally goes to hospital and was unable to wear them as they were.
A word from the store director
Minal Thaker, store director in Eastleigh, said: ‘We are really honoured to have been able to help our NHS colleagues to continue to go about their business supporting people fighting this virus.
‘We want the local community to know that, while we are closed for routine appointments at the present time, we are still very much here to support people with their essential eye and hearing care needs – so please give us a call if you need us.’
