East Grinstead offers UV protection advice

Specsavers East Grinstead urges families to care for eyes this summer

Specsavers in East Grinstead reminds its customers why UV protection for the eyes is important.

Why eyes needs TLC from harmful sun rays
Our skin loves sun protection cream when it's hot.  Our eyes also like UV protection because UV sun rays can cause many problems.  From painful irritation to the cornea at the front of the eye, or even worst in extreme circumstances, cancer of the cornea, it makes sense to give eyes the best protection possible.

So what do you need to look for when buying sunglasses?
Specsavers in East Grinstead has a great range of frames that can accomodate prescription lenses.  They all come with the CE kite mark and give 99-100 per cent UV protection which is indicated on labelling with the mark UV-400.  These are the most important marks to look for:  the darkness and tint of sunglasses is not an indicator of the UV protection offered.

Have you considered reactive lenses?
Specsavers East Grinstead offers photochromic lenses for your frames.  These are clear lenses but react and turn darker in sunlight.

Don't forget your prescription when on holiday
A top tip from the team at Specsavers East Grinstead is to take your prescription with you if travelling abroad.  Should your frames break on holiday, you can purchase a second pair if you so wish.
