Specsavers in Durham was recognised with the title of Large Retailer of the Year at a recent annual awards ceremony organised by Durham County Council.
The ninth annual event, which took place at the spectacular Ramside Hall, was attended by 350 guests from many different businesses in Durham and saw retailers from across the city honoured in 11 categories.
High praise from the city
The Awards recognise and celebrate the hard work and dedication from retailers in the city, who ensure all visitors to the city get a true Durham welcome. Eleven team members from Specsavers in Durham attended the event to accept the coveted award on behalf of the store.
Clare Burns, store manageress at Specsavers in Durham, said: ‘We are all absolutely thrilled to win this award. Our team always try to go that extra mile for customers and we are grateful to all that voted for us, particularly as we had some stiff competition for the title.’
The store has been trading on North Road in the city for 17 years and continues to do a lot in the community by supporting local charities as well as national charities such as Guide Dogs for the Blind.
