To mark National Deaf Awareness Week Specsavers Dunfermline had a visit from a working hearing dog

Staff and customers in Dunfermline were treated to a special appearance from a four-legged visitor from Hearing Dogs.

Raising Awareness of Hearing Loss

To mark National Deaf Awareness Week, the store was joined by working Hearing Dog Wilson and his owner, who helped to raise £212.15 that will go towards sponsoring Hearing Dog puppy Jade.

Costa Coffee were also on hand offering customers coffee and tea. The funds will go towards training – with Jade then being paired with a deaf person to support them in their everyday life.

Lifetime Support for Hearing Dog Puppy

Store director Andy Hepburn, adds: ‘We had a fantastic week highlighting hearing loss and the superb work Hearing Dogs carries out in our area.

‘I’d like to thank locals for their fantastic response to our fundraising appeal. We are very excited to sponsor puppy Jade and our aim is to raise £1000 over the next year to provide her with lifetime support.’

Specsavers Audiologists and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People celebrated 10 years of partnership earlier this year.
