Be UV aware
The sun is out, and spirits are high. Specsavers in Dorchester is here to help with all your family's sunglasses needs and also wants to remind customers that UV protection for the eyes is something that shouldn't be overlooked this summer.
Why the need for sunglasses
Says store director Susan Jobling: 'We all know how important suncream is when it comes to protecting skin from the harmful UV rays but many are unaware that these rays can be problematic for our eyes.
'It can be simple irritation but in more extreme cases, cancer of the cornea, age related macular degeneration, cataracts and even blindness can be caused by excessive exposure which is why it's paramount to have the right sunglasses.'
What to look for when buying your shades?
Susan adds: 'Style is factor, but there are other things to look for such as ensuring they bear the CE kite mark and offer 99-100 per cent UV protection which is indicated on labelling with the mark UV-400. Do not let price, darkness and tint of the sunglasses guide your choice exclusively.
'Here at Specsavers in Dorchester, we offer superior sunglasses that can accomodate your prescription and style is a guarantee too.'
