Digital skills officer comes to Brecon during National Eye Health Week
Specsavers in Brecon is promoting the benefits of using smartphones and tablets for people with sight and hearing loss, in an event taking place during National Eye Health Week.
Benefits of digital devices
On Thursday 21st September, a digital skills officer from the RNIB’s Online Today project will visit Specsavers to talk to customers and members of the community about the benefits of digital devices, including using simple techniques such as enlarging text, using magnification and changing colours.
The event will also highlight the range of free mobile apps that are available to help make people’s lives easier when living with sensory loss.
Technology can improve quality of life
Donna Like, director of Specsavers in Brecon, says: ‘If you are experiencing sight and hearing loss, or know anyone who is, we’re encouraging you to visit our store during Ray’s visit on 21 September.
‘We hope that by having a skilled professional in store, it will be an effective way to build people’s confidence as well as offer an understanding of how digital technology can improve and maintain quality of life when living with sight or hearing loss.’
