The team at Specsavers in Didcot adopted an alternative take on the Macmilllan Cancer Support coffee morning and raised nearly £100 for the charity in the process.
Staff at the store took it in turns to cook and bring in lunches to share with the rest of the team, with individuals donating what they would usually spend on their own lunch.
A word from the store director
‘We thought we’d try something different to the bake sale and it went down a storm,’ said store director, Rukhsana Bi. ‘Over the course of the week we were treated to a range of culinarily savoury delights from across the world, alongside plenty of biscuits and cakes. It was certainly a success, not only raising funds, but bringing us all together and enjoying a range of great food.’
Macmillan Cancer Support is made up of millions of supporters, professionals, volunteers, campaigners and people affected by cancer. The charity ensures there’s always someone to listen, to give support, energy and the inspiration needed to help sufferers feel like themselves again.
