The team from Specsavers in Didcotstepped in to support a critical care physician who was struggling to see while wearing his personal protective equipment (PPE).
Dr Patheeben Nagarajan, an intensivist working in John Radcliffe Hospital, contacted Specsavers in Didcot after he was struggling to fit his specs underneath his visored full face mask. Although the store has suspended all routine testing, the team are stillon hand to offer essential and urgent care, particularly for key workers like Dr Nagarajan.

‘I hadn’t worn contact lenses for several years and wasn’t sure that I’d be able to find a solution during the lockdown,’ explains Dr Nagarajan who works in the ITU at the hospital.‘But fortunately, Specsavers were able to help – advising on the lenses and fitting and dispatching my correct prescription extremely promptly.
‘With my new contact lenses, I feel confident both in the knowledge that I’m protecting myself but also that I’m able to perform my duty to my best too. Thank you, Specsavers.’

Specsavers' teams are classed as key workers to provide urgent and essential eye care to those who need it. This includes supporting other key workers who couldn’t function without their help and people who would come to harm without their health expertise, especially where the usual hospital services and NHS facilities are being prioritised for the fight against COVID-19.
